قالت السفيرة ميرفت تلاوي، رئيس المجلس القومي للمرأة، إن مصادر باللجنة العليا للانتخابات أكدت لها أن مشاركة النساء في الانتخابات الرئاسية الأخيرة بلغت نحو 54%، أي بشكل يفوق عدد الرجال المشاركين.

وأوضحت «تلاوي» خلال ورشة عمل «المرأة المصرية خطوة نحو برلمان 2015»، الاثنين، بين المجلس القومي لحقوق الإنسان وعدد من رؤساء وممثلي الأحزاب، أن المرأة المصرية ستشارك في الانتخابات البرلمانية المقبلة بكثافة، وربما ستكون أكبر كثافة خلال الانتخابات السابقة، مشددة أن النساء ستشارك في العملية الانتخابية المقبلة مهما كانت الظروف.
