عشرات الآلاف لاذوا بالملاجئ في ولاية فلوريدا الأمريكية دون أن يعرفوا متى يمكنهم العودة.. فيضانات، وانقطاع للتيار الكهربائي، ودمار خلّف قتلى ومصابين، مشاهد التقطتها عدسات المصورين، الأحد، مع بداية وصول إعصار «إيرما» إلى فلوريدا، برياح سرعتها 210 كلم في الساعة، وذلك بعد أن عادت شدته للارتفاع ليصبح في الدرجة الرابعة (ما قبل القصوى).

صحف ومواقع غربية نشرت صورًا عدة للدمار الذي خلّفه الإعصار، والملاجئ التي تقدم المأوى والطعام للفارين وحيواناتهم الأليفة، بينما على الفارين أن يحضروا الفراش والأغطية للنوم.

وأعلن المركز الوطني الأمريكي للأعاصير، الأحد، أن الإعصار كان في الدرجة الخامسة وانخفضت شدته بعد أن ضرب مجموعة جزر في البحر الكاريبي، لكن يبدو أنه عاد ليشتد مع اقترابه من أرخبيل كيز في فلوريدا.

ويفترض أن تضرب عين الإعصار جزر كيز السفلى في الساعات المقبلة قبل أن تتوجه إلى «قرب أو على طول» الساحل الغربي لفلوريدا.
