قتل شخصان وأصيب أكثر من 100 شخص حتى الآن جراء الزلزال الذي ضرب المنتجعات اليونانية والتركية، ما أثار مخاوف من «تسونامي» جديدة، واضطر عشرات الآلاف إلى النوم في الشوارع، وتم تحذير السياح من احتمالية وقوع هزات ارتدادية مقبلة «تسونامي».

وضرب الزلزال، الذي كانت قوته 6.7 درجة، قبالة الساحل الجنوبي الغربي من مدينة بودروم في تركيا، ما أثار تسونامي، واجتاحت موجات تسونامي عدة فنادق على شاطئ البحر على طول ساحل بحر إيجة مع بودروم ومارماريس الأكثر تضررا.

ولقي سائحان من السويد وتركيا مصرعهما في جزيرة كوس اليونانية، حيث يقضيان عطلتهما، عندما انهار سقف ملهى ليلي جراء الزلزال.

وانهارت أجزاء من مسجد كوس في ساحة البلدة، في حين شعرت بالهزات أيضا في كريت ورودس. وأثارت الأبراج المنھارة في بودروم حرائق کھربائیة ضخمة، في حین قطعت الكهرباء في مناطق كثيرة من المدينة.

المصور الصحفي، جوليان روبنسون، رصد بعدسات كاميرته رجال الإنقاذ الذي توجهوا سريعا، صباح الجمعة، للبحث عن مزيد من الضحايا المحاصرين تحت الأنقاض، فضلا عن مئات المصابين، كما التقطت الكاميرات الفوضى التي شهدتها المطارات التي اكتظت بآلاف السياح الذي يرغبون بالعودة إلى بلادهم، فضلا عن عشرات الآلاف من السياح الذين قضوا ليلتهم في الشوارع ليلا، بعد تحذيرهم من المبيت في الفنادق. ووصف السياح كيف كانت فنادقهم «تهتز مثل الهلام».
